Unlock more poses for console marshalling

Author:

In a good large-scale sound theater and indoor performance, many engineers and sound engineers have roughly neglected the true meaning of the grouping, and many use the grouping as a kind of effect to help the output, such as listening and monitoring, but in fact, it is not.

What is the mixer marshalling for?

The so-called marshalling is how many microphones and lines of the same kind are numbered together, and then each set of signals is sent to the main output. If you want to adjust each line and transmitter at the same time, you don't care about the operation of the fader, if you can program them in a group, then directly through the fader to achieve the adjustment between them.

Grouping is most commonly used as output. The group output can be used for fill speakers or external recording, or return speakers, as well as sub-venue signal output, etc., which is very flexible.

For example:

At a large performance evening, a 32-way mixer with 6 groups and 16 inputs for the instrument part; Host and sing mics account for 8 inputs; Lavalier and helmet-mounted MICs for applications such as choral vocals or crosstalk sketches account for 8 inputs;

In live performances, if you want to adjust the lines and microphones between the whole at the same time, and determine the operation of each fader, the operation difficulty factor is very large, and this can be solved by the function of marshalling.

The 16 inputs of the instrument can be arranged into 1-2 groups (the fader for the band's panning and volume is adjusted at that time); Host and sing mics account for 8 input arranged into 3-4 groups; Lamond and helmet-mounted MICs for applications such as chorus voices or crosstalk sketches account for 8 input groups of 5-6; Then 6 channels are grouped into the main output.

In this way, you can grasp the mobility of the whole party well through the grouping.

Another analogy

What should I do when the host gives an opening speech or does a program such as a game, and needs to raise the host speaker louder and the background music (instrument voice) quieter?

If you follow the operation of each fader of the voice of the instrument, this will not work. Then the marshalling can be well controlled, pulling down the fader of 1-2 grouping (instrument parts) can control the volume of all instrument parts, without affecting each other.
