That's what a meeting should be

Have you ever been to a video conference where you barely see the speaker's face because the conference camera is not pointing at the speaker, but at the projection screen or whiteboard? And you know almost nothing about what's going on in the room. If you can't see some of the details in the room, the experience of this video conference is too bad for remote video conference participants. In the future, this hybrid environment of physical spaces and virtual participants will become the norm. How can we better improve the virtual meeting experience for all?

Now, Sennheiser and QSC have teamed up to bring you the Q-SYS Automatic Camera Preset Recall plugin, now available for download in the Q-SYS Designer Asset Manager. Developed by QSC to work with the Sennheiser TeamConnect Ceiling 2 (TCC2) microphone and the Q-SYS ecosystem, the plugin automatically brings up Q-SYS conference camera presets that you define for a specific space by analyzing the voice of speakers using TCC2 microphones. The plug-in can support up to 4 Q-SYS conference cameras and 10 Sennheiser TCC2 microphones at the same time. Because each microphone has 360° sound pickup, the room can be divided into up to 10 zones for optimal room design and flexibility of use. The plugin also allows fine-tuning camera switching actions, switching delays, and even sound crosstalk detection in adjacent areas, including setting the default starting position of the camera.

When deploying this plug-in in a meeting space, there are some practical situations to consider. For example, you need to make sure that the pickup area of the microphone covers all the speakers, and that the camera lens can cover the entire area. This is generally easy in a room with fixed furniture, such as a conference room or training room, because there is usually not much space for the speaker. Finally, you need to consider the way the speaker is facing (the rear camera is used to capture the speaker standing near the front screen, the front camera is usually used to photograph participants in the conference room, etc.). It is also recommended to set the frame setting range to a wide range so that people of different heights and different sitting positions are always in the frame.
